WOTS September Luncheon

Save the date! The third Thursday of this month please join us in welcoming Karie Burns, F.N.P. and Tara Goetz, F.N.P. with Ebert Family Clinic.

In September we acknowledge World Suicide Prevention Day among many others. Did you, now, that Colorado ranks #9 in the nation for suicides?! In fact, Colorado and the other mountain states continue to have the highest suicide rate. There is something about living at altitude …….

Suicides can be prevented, and many people who think about or attempt suicide go on to thrive. Identifying which groups and regions have higher rates of suicide can help point to areas in need of support. The Ebert Family Clinic and it’s providers are working hard with the Colorado State Innovation Model (SIM) and with mental health providers in Summit and surrounding counties, to ensure our patients have the access they need for prevention and treatment.

If you are in crisis, call the Colorado Crisis & Support Line at 1-844-493-TALK (8255) to connect with a trained counselor in your area.

Or reach the toll-free National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service is available to anyone. All calls are confidential.

Karie Burns, F.N.P. and Tara Goetz, F.N.P., are both board certified  Family Nurse Practitioners at the Ebert Family Clinic. They offer a plethora of services to the families of Summit County and the surrounding areas, expanding to in-home primary care services for our disabled and aging. You can establish care with these providers and utilize our Telehealth services from the convience of your home, work, or travel to ensure you have access to your providers.

INSPIRING CHANGE

We are very excited to have Tracey Carisch joining us this month. She will be sharing some of her journey:

FROM FRAZZLED MOM TO WANDERING NOMAD

Happy childhood. College education. Great job, loving marriage, three kids, and a dog…..Tracey Carisch was living the American Dream, yet she realized one day that something was missing. So she and her family went on a journey, and through their travels across 24 countries on 6 continents, they found what they’d been missing. Wisdom. Balance. Connection. Pieces of themselves that had been there all along, but they had to step away from the noise and chaos of modern family life in order to find them again.

Tracey Carisch is an international speaker and leadership professional. Her presentations at conferences, fundraisers, and corporate events challenge audiences to embrace change and find the opportunities in life’s difficult situations. Her book, Excess Baggage, chronicles her family’s around-the-world journey, in which they shed the stress of their busy, overscheduled life and found balance through the lessons of international travel.

Please join the Women of the Summit on Thursday, June 21st at 11:45am to learn how you can INSPIRING CHANGE!

  • Identify your most significant priorities, in business and in life
  • Create more time to do the things you love without sacrificing results

You are invited Margs and Mexican at our May Mixer. But, before we get to that: can you help us count tickets after the BBQ in June?

We have some great news regarding the ticket counting. TOF is renting 3 industrial scales this year!!! No more hours of spooning tickets into yogurt containers! We can measure whole buckets at a time! That means we need fewer people. I think we can do it with 12 volunteers.

When: Sunday June 19 (Father’s day)

Time: 10 – 12.30pm (shift 1) and 12:30 – 3pm (shift 2) 6 people on each shift

If you can help out please email me directly at jolinak@gmail.com. You will receive $10 worth of tickets and a T-shirt 🙂

Thank you!

Instead of a luncheon, our monthly event will be held at Carlos Miguel’s Mexican Bar and Grill, in Frisco. (740 Summit Boulevard)

Based on your feedback from past mixers we have scheduled this one a little later (5pm – 7pm). We hope this makes it easier for you to come and connect with other WOTS.

Courtney Kirschbaum’s notes are here!

Luncheon Topic:  “The Magic of a New Beginning and a Fresh Start”

Courtney Kirschbaum, CEO & Founder at CK Consulting LLC

Women are limited by the paradigms we work and think in, the assumptions about who we are and what we do, and the environment we live in.  We seldom ask “What am I doing for me?  What am I getting out of my work?  What drives my life”?

People tend to give up what they believe in and go towards security and safety.

“State of Grace” = when you have a great talent and you intersect it with what you do.  This cannot be counterfeited.

Three questions you should be asking:

1)  Are you surrounded by people who believe in you?

2)  Are you where you want to be?

3)  Are you doing what you love?

Four Ways to Change:

1)  Find your “Core Genius”.  Your “core genius” is something you do better than just about everyone else you know.  It is the “first cousin” to the “State of Grace”.  Most people don’t appreciate what they bring to the table.

2)  Practice the “Rule of 5”.  Identify a primary goal, and do 5 thinks every day that will get you closer to your goal (“massive action gives you massive results”).  Keller Williams developed the following plan of action, which proved to be very effective for them.  Every week a salesperson would do:

a)  5 in-person meetings

b)  10 calls

c)  15 thank yous

d)  5 property reviews

3)  Participate in “Mastermind” groups.  There are Four “States” of action:

a)  Waiting (resignation, procrastination, indecision).

b)  Striving (a lot of trying but not a lot of getting).

c)  Wanting (discontent and possible desperation).

d)  Having (state of relaxation, belief that everything is “going to turn out ok”).

A “mastermind group” is a group of 5 or 6 people working together to “have each other’s back”.  The basic philosophy is that more can be achieved in less time when people work together.  Group topics can be personal or professional, but each member must be comfortable with telling the truth and being honest.

4)  Create a “Mindset”.  There is a belief in our culture that “success leads to happiness”.  A Harvard study showed that happiness actually ends when you accomplish a goal.  The “mindset” needs to be that happiness comes first.  Those who are in a “happy state” are more “successful”.  They have the “happiness advantage”, which leads to positive social support, an effective ability to deal with stress, and an overall positive outlook.

“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind”

-Napolean Hill

“Do the Work

Our enemy is not lack of preparation; it’s not the difficulty of the project, or the state of the marketplace or the emptiness of our bank account.

The enemy is resistance.

The enemy is our chattering brain, which, if we give it so much as a nanosecond, will start producing excuses, alibis, transparent self-justifications and a million reasons why he can’t/shouldn’t/won’t do what we know we need to do.

Start before you’re ready”

-Stephen Presfield
