Join Women of the Summit on Thursday, September 21st for the interactive workshop “Climb that Mountain! Find and Live your Dreams.” Explore your passions, abilities and priorities. Develop or revisit your own mission, vision and values statements, and learn about other women of the summit and the passions they pursue. Wendy Boortz, President of Bizzy Whiz, LLC, and a recent transplant to Summit County, will lead the workshop. Wendy has worked with nonprofits, government agencies and small businesses on mission and vision development. In her current role, she empowers children for career and financial success through the publication of fun, exciting picture books.

April Luncheon: Get Productive!

2 things: will you join us for lunch this month, and can you help count BBQ tickets?

For the latter, 6 volunteers are needed on Sunday, June 18, from 9am til 1pm (last year it took us a bit less than 4 hours). You will get $10 worth of tickets and a T-shirt. July Breakfast Hike

Hi Ladies
This month’s event will be a breakfast ‘hike’ at Sapphire Point on Swan Mountain Road.
Pinna Gallant will be leading us through a few minutes of yoga to get us loosened up and present in our bodies. After that, it will be all about connecting with one another over a picnic breakfast of breakfast burritos, fruit, yogurt and coffee.
The ‘hike’ is really just a few minute walk to the picnic tables overlooking Lake Dillon 🙂

May Mixer: Mexican and Margs

You are invited Margs and Mexican at our May Mixer. But, before we get to that: can you help us count tickets after the BBQ in June?

We have some great news regarding the ticket counting. TOF is renting 3 industrial scales this year!!! No more hours of spooning tickets into yogurt containers! We can measure whole buckets at a time! That means we need fewer people. I think we can do it with 12 volunteers.

Eat, Drink and Be Mindful?

Before I get to the lunch info I have to give a huge shout out to Barb Winch for her jazzercise fundraising event. She raised $545!!! The board has voted to give an additional scholarship with those funds! Thank you to those of you who came out and danced with us that day. It was a lot of hot, sweaty fun 🙂

This month Kim Bundy-Fazioli will introduce the concept of mindfulness and lead an awareness of breath exercise to demonstrate the importance of stillness as a way to begin training the attention of the mind. Kim is the director of Mindfulness Matters Institute, LLC. She is a certified teacher of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program through the University of San Diego, Center for Mindfulness, School of Medicine.

It’s party time again!

Please mark your calendars. Our holiday party and silent auction is coming up quickly. Besides ticket counting at the BBQ Challenge, this is our opportunity to rasie funds that go to graduating high school girls to help them with their tertiary education.

To that end, can you help? Do you have an item or service that you’d be willing to donate to the auction? And can you come along to the party to either bid on items, and encourage others to do the same? Of course, bidding is not a requirement but you might not be able to resist some of the fabulous gifts on offer.

For example, A New You is offering a one hour massage (valued at $90) …this could be yours! Or It could be a gift for a friend ….

During this month’s luncheon, Dr Lisa Julian will speak about mindfulness and the intelligence already present in the human body that allows all of us the will and the awareness to balance ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through conscious practices of mindfulness and gratitude, we’ll all surely thrive during this upcoming holiday season!
Dr. Lisa Julian, Ph.D. has been studying organic chemistry “the molecules of life” for nearly twenty years. She is a professor of science at University of Colorado Denver and Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge and inventor on four patents for her past efforts developing new diabetes and cancer treatments. In 2012, Lisa shifted gears and earned her yoga instructor certification andcurrently is a full-time resident of Summit County andowner of Elevated Yoga & Holistic Heath in Frisco.

Pinna has been practicing and teaching yoga since 2006. In 2013, after nearly 20 years in software and media industries in Denver, San Francisco and Paris, Ms.Gallant chose to leave the software industry and open Peak Yoga in Dillon CO.

From the original business concept Ms. Gallant was clear in her intention to build a yoga studio that fostered community within the studio as well as making the studio part of a larger community by partnering with local nonprofits.

Please join Pinna us for a discussion about the power of intention to create community and how that intention has translated into specific partnerships and initiatives. Ms. Gallant will share how these initiatives have fostered a culture in which individuals matter, where students give back to the larger community, and how these efforts benefit her business and the nonprofits which Peak Yoga supports.

Inspired by the bike race that will be charging through Summit county, the WOTS board has created a Wheel of Business networking opportunity.
We have chosen five ‘spokes’ of business success to interact around. This luncheon will be all about brainstorming and sharing ideas on what’s working, or whats not, in your business …and how to make it better. With all the creative, interesting and successful women in the room, I’m sure we will all come away with good ideas and deeper connections.

Robin Drabant will be presenting “A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters” a seminar designed for women of all ages to learn how to take control of their financial life. Robin is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, helping individuals, and local business owners, meet their retirement and other financial goals through investing. She specializes in providing personalized, one on one investment advice and creating a customized plan tailored to meet the needs of each individual client. During our luncheon presentation she will cover key strategies for three common financial goals: preparing for retirement, living in retirement and paying for education.

After spending 13 years in the Chicagoland area, Robin finally relocated to Summit County and joined the rest of her family here in the high country. She in single, with no kids (except the furry kind)…but a very proud aunt to little Norah and Mason. In her personal time, she loves skiing, hiking, camping and all the other fun things the mountain lifestyle affords us.

Luncheon Topic:  “The Magic of a New Beginning and a Fresh Start”

Women are limited by the paradigms we work and think in, the assumptions about who we are and what we do, and the environment we live in.  We seldom ask “What am I doing for me?  What am I getting out of my work?  What drives my life”?

People tend to give up what they believe in and go towards security and safety.

 

“State of Grace” = when you have a great talent and you intersect it with what you do.  This cannot be counterfeited.

 

Three questions you should be asking:

1)  Are you surrounded by people who believe in you?

2)  Are you where you want to be?

3)  Are you doing what you love?

 

Four Ways to Change:

1)  Find your “Core Genius”.  Your “core genius” is something you do better than just about everyone else you know.  It is the “first cousin” to the “State of Grace”.  Most people don’t appreciate what they bring to the table.

 

2)  Practice the “Rule of 5”.  Identify a primary goal, and do 5 thinks every day that will get you closer to your goal (“massive action gives you massive results”).  Keller Williams developed the following plan of action, which proved to be very effective for them.  Every week a salesperson would do:

a)  5 in-person meetings

b)  10 calls

c)  15 thank yous

d)  5 property reviews

 

3)  Participate in “Mastermind” groups.  There are Four “States” of action:

a)  Waiting (resignation, procrastination, indecision).

b)  Striving (a lot of trying but not a lot of getting).

c)  Wanting (discontent and possible desperation).

d)  Having (state of relaxation, belief that everything is “going to turn out ok”).

A “mastermind group” is a group of 5 or 6 people working together to “have each other’s back”.  The basic philosophy is that more can be achieved in less time when people work together.  Group topics can be personal or professional, but each member must be comfortable with telling the truth and being honest.

4)  Create a “Mindset”.  There is a belief in our culture that “success leads to happiness”.  A Harvard study showed that happiness actually ends when you accomplish a goal.  The “mindset” needs to be that happiness comes first.  Those who are in a “happy state” are more “successful”.  They have the “happiness advantage”, which leads to positive social support, an effective ability to deal with stress, and an overall positive outlook.
