WOTS March Luncheon

Join us as we get to know Julie McCluskie, Director of Communications & Community Engagement for Summit School District. Passionate about public education and communications, Julie has spent the better part of her career working in and out of schools providing exceptional leadership in strategic communications and community engagement. She oversees community, media and public relations; stakeholder outreach; crisis communications; and family engagement. During the years she led the initiative to improve student climate, Summit School District was recognized as one of the top four school districts in the state for their outstanding bullying prevention efforts by The Colorado Trust. Near and dear to her heart, she is responsible for the district’s cultural proficiency efforts for ensuring equity and access for all students to the highest levels of academic rigor.

She took a few years away from Summit Schools to serve as the Director of Communications for Lt. Gov. Joseph Garcia. She played a key role in the implementation of Colorado Reads 2013: The Early Literacy Initiative, Colorado Literacy Week and the One Book 4 Colorado statewide program and was responsible for orchestrating statewide tours, numerous community conversations and public events. She believes the success of Colorado’s education initiatives relies on the ability to cultivate meaningful private/public partnerships through thoughtful community outreach.

Julie serves on The Summit Foundation Board of Trustees, Advocates for Victims of Assault Board and the Building Hope Advisory Board. Born and raised in Colorado and a graduate of Colorado State University, Julie is proud to have raised her two children, Ian and Cait, with her husband Jamie in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
